Bara is an innovative hotel project featuring an iconic facade and achieving high-energy efficiency (Passive House towards zero energy). It is located in the municipality of Anderlecht, behind the Brussels-South train station.

A2M used parametric design combined with material research to shape the facade. This special characteristic allowed for an improvement of the energy performance of the building coupled with an increased architectural quality.

As A2M also wanted to reduce the environmental impact of the building, it planned for photovoltaic panels, heat recovery units, and a high performing ventilation system of VAV boxes along with temperature and CO2 sensors. The project also integrates circular economy strategies.

Bara is one of A2M’s very first applications of built parametric design.
