For a few weeks now, our colleague Maximilien has been visiting the workers who are currently on site in order to help them figure out ways to infuse new energy into the Ekla project.

The Vandenheuvel Brewery used to be located on a city block in the heart of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean (Brussels). Following its demolition, the site was reduced to a sad wasteland, disfiguring the neighbourhood. For this reason, the Gowest-Ekla project (we named it Ekla after the famous beer that used to be brewed there!) aims to revitalize the space. The establishment of a nursery and a housing complex will fit into the neighbourhood through its multiple functionality.

Urban quality is directly proportional to the way in which city dwellers live together. Furthermore, the quality of this shared life highly depends on the relationships fostered by that space. Such relationships range from the exchanges that the district maintains with its close and extended urban context to the relationships between its inhabitants. In the context of this complex urban setting, we aim to preserve a human dimension, create open views and ensure maximum natural light.
We can’t wait to see the final result!
